Vol. 452 No. 1

Written Answers. - Interpretative Centre Visitors.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

43 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the visitor numbers to the Interpretative Centres under the Office of Public Works; and the measures, if any, which are being taken to ensure that there will be an increase in numbers to these centres in 1995. [7840/95]

I understand that the overall number of paying visitors to 50 visitor centres in 1994 was 1,957,000 compared to 1,100,000 in 1989 to 28 sites. In recent times there has been an increase each year in the overall numbers visiting sites as more sites are presented and opened to the public. Three new sites will be opened this year.
