Vol. 452 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin and Monaghan Bombings.

Michael McDowell

Question:

61 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Justice the reason there has been a delay in the issuing of a statement arising out of the Garda investigation of the matters raised by the Yorkshire Television Programme on the Dublin and Monaghan bombings in July 1993; when she will meet with the families of the victims to advise them of the outcome of the investigation; when the statement promised by her predecessor on 19 April 1994, and stated by her predecessor to be a matter of urgency on the 31 May 1994, will be made; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7766/95]

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Questions Nos. 14, 24, 35, 63, 67 and 70 on 8 February, 1995 in which I indicated my intention to meet with the families of the victims of the bombings and to issue a public statement on the Garda investigation as quickly as possible. I hope to be in a position to fulfil this commitment shortly.
