Vol. 452 No. 2

Written Answers. - Environmental Complaints.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

26 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for the Environment the number of environmental complaints against local authorities or against the Government which have been lodged with the European Commission in each of the years 1994 to 1995; the average period taken to resolve these complaints; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7768/95]

My Department does not have the information sought; it is aware only of those complaints received by the European Commission about which the Commission decides to communicate with it. The Commission's eleventh annual report to the European Parliament on monitoring the application of Community law, which is available in the Oireachtas Library, contains statistical information in relation to suspected and established infringements of Union law in the period 1989 to 1993.
