Vol. 452 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Bathing Areas.

Ivor Callely

Question:

27 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment the suitable bathing locations in the Dublin area which adhere to EU and Irish regulations and do not breach such regulations due to pollution; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7772/95]

The Quality of Bathing Waters Regulations 1992, as amended, prescribe water quality standards and other requirements for the following bathing areas in the Dublin area: Donabate, Loughshinny, Malahide, Portmarnock, Portrane, Rush (South Beach), Skerries, Burrow Beach at Sutton, Dollymount, Killiney and Seapoint.

The results of monitoring carried out by the local authorities in the 1994 bathing season showed that all these bathing areas complied with the quality standards laid down in the Regulations.
