Vol. 452 No. 2

Written Answers. - Road Transport Development.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

28 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment his views on the proposals of the European Parliament to delete the road connection from Dublin to Rosslare and the road connection from Mullingar to Sligo highway projects which were destined to be part of the overall European road transport development in Ireland. [7406/95]

I am pleased to advise the House that an amendment which proposed the deletion of the Rosslare to Dublin and Mullingar to Sligo road links from the trans-European networks was rejected at a meeting of the Tourism and Transport Committee of the European Parliament last week.

The report of the committee's meeting will go forward for consideration at a plenary session of the parliament on Wednesday, 17 May 1995.
