103 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Justice the present position pertaining to the progress development and review report within the Garda Síochána; the date on which work on the report commenced; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7812/95]

The Garda Commissioner commenced a process of Performance Development and Review in the Garda Síochána in early 1993. This system forms part of the Garda Síochána corporate strategy plan.

The objectives of the system are to improve individual performance and thereby the overall performance of the service to the public and also to provide for individual development.

However, I am constrained in what I can say in relation to this matter as both the Garda Representative Association and the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors have raised this matter at conciliation and I am precluded by the Conciliation and Arbitration Scheme from commenting on matters which are before it.
