Vol. 452 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cappoquin (Waterford) Primary School.

Austin Deasy

Question:

29 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education when she will provide a new primary school and playground facilities in Cappoquin, County Waterford, to replace the two existing schools which are in poor structural condition and at which very limited play areas are available. [6767/95]

It is not possible, at this stage, to say when, precisely, a new building will be provided to replace the two existing primary schools in Cappoquin, County Waterford. This will depend on a number of factors, including the availability of financial resources. The two existing schools have agreed to amalgamate to form a single school. The managements have indicated to my Department that a new school building on a new site will be required to house the single school. They have also identified a potential site for such a development.

The case is currently being examined with a view to formulating an accommodation brief to provide for the long term needs of the proposed single school. When this process has been completed my Department will be in touch with the boards of management of the two schools with its proposals.
