15 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Justice the number of official receptions hosted since the change of Government on 15 December 1994; the number planned for the remainder of 1995; the events or meetings these receptions mark; and the number and purpose of such receptions during 1994. Five official departmental receptions have been hosted either by myself or the Ministers of State at my Department on Department of Justice business since the change of Government on 15 December 1995.
The receptions in question were held for the following reasons: launch of an official report on "Homicides in Ireland", held in the Department of Justice; opening of Phase III, Physical Education Centre, Garda College, Templemore; presentation by the Irish Association for Victim Support of their New Charter of Victims Rights, held in the Department of Justice; opening of Enniscorthy Garda station, District Headquarters; and reception for members of the media, held in the Department of Justice.
There is, at present, one other official reception planned in 1995. It is to mark the occasion of the "Capital Policing Europe 1995 Conference" which will be held in Dublin Castle in June, 1995. It is not possible to provide details of other official receptions which I or my Ministers of State will host on Department of Justice business in 1995, as the arrangements have not been finalised as yet.
There were 16 official receptions hosted during 1994 before I took office. The information requested in relation to these receptions is contained in the following tabular statement.
