Vol. 452 No. 7

Written Answers. - Circuit Court Sittings.

Austin Deasy

Question:

52 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice if she will ensure that Circuit Court sittings are not removed from towns such as Dungarvan, County Waterford and Youghal, County Cork. [8117/95]

Under the terms of section 10 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1947, the fixing of venues within a Circuit Court circuit is a matter for the President of the Circuit Court in consultation with the Circuit Court Judge permanently assigned to that Circuit. This is a matter in which I have no function.

Noel Ahern

Question:

53 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the success, or otherwise, in moving gardaí back from Border locations; the number who have moved; and to where they have moved. [8423/95]

I would refer the Deputy to my replies to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 18 and 80 of 8 February 1995.

The position remains as stated in these replies. I understand from the Garda authorities that they are keeping the situation under regular review.
