Vol. 452 No. 7

Written Answers. - Marketing Techniques.

Ivor Callely

Question:

65 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice if her attention has been drawn to the public concern with regard to the way in which an individual's name and other data can be obtained by direct marketing lists; in view of the escalation of this marketing technique, the steps, if any, she intends to introduce to address this issue; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [88274/95]

The matter referred to by the Deputy is not one which has been brought to my concern. However, the Government policy agreement contains a commitment to review and update the Data Protection Act and I would be happy to arrange to have any submission which the Deputy might care to make on the matter considered in the context of that review.
