114 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education whether she will request the Minister for the Environment to initiate the process whereby voting in Seanad elections will be open to graduates of Dublin City University, University of Limerick, Dublin Institute of Technology and the regional technical colleges as well as to graduates of the National University of Ireland and Trinity College Dublin. The legislative priorities of the Minister for the Environment are a matter for determination by him. In response to a Parliamentary Question on 8 March, 1995 the Minister for the Environment referred to a resolution adopted by the Upper House on 2 November, 1994 calling for the introduction of legislation to extend the franchise at Seanad university elections to graduates of third level institutions. The Minister indicated that this issue would be considered by Government in due course.
