Vol. 453 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dundalk (Louth) Sewerage Scheme.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

99 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment the stage of the plans to provide Dundalk with a main drainage and sewerage scheme, including treatment plant, as envisaged in the major plan for effluent treatment in major coastal towns launched by his Department a number of years ago; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9544/95]

EU approval was granted in October 1993 for the co-financing of stage 1 of the Dundalk sewerage scheme from the Cohesion Fund; this stage covers the initial planning of the scheme up to completion of the environmental impact assessment.

The environmental impact statement for the scheme was submitted to my Department by Dundalk Urban District Council in November 1994, and will be determined shortly.
