Vol. 453 No. 4

Written Answers. - INTERREG Development Officer Post.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

25 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance if he will set up an INTERREG secretariat in the Border areas specifically to deal with INTERREG funding under Phase II; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7230/95]

James Leonard

Question:

46 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Finance when local offices, north and south of the Border, will be set up in the Border region to assist in implementing the INTERREG Programme. [9437/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 25 and 46 together.

The Minister for Finance answered this question in some detail on 28 February last. The post of INTERREG Development Officer has since been advertised and my Department and the Department of Finance and Personnel in Belfast are processing the applications at present. Interviews are expected to be held shortly and the office should be functional by the end of June 1995. In the meantime, the two Departments are handling all inquiries arising from interested organisations and members of the public in relation to the programme.
The Development Officer will be based in sub-offices in Monaghan town and Armagh.
