Helen Keogh

Question:

24 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Finance the number of applications which were received in response to the public notice dated 8 January 1995, regarding the commissioning of a major multi-disclipinary study of flooding in the south Galway area; when a decision will be made in regard to this commission; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9423/95]

The advertisement for a multi-disciplinary study of flooding in the south Galway area attracted widespread attention and generated over 80 inquiries from Ireland, the UK and continental Europe.

Thirty-one applications were received from teams of consultants, each representing a wide range of expertise, wishing to be considered for inclusion for the commission. The process of selecting a short list of suitable consultants to submit detailed proposals including costings, for undertaking the study is proceeding with a view to commencing the actual study as soon as possible.
