Vol. 453 No. 7

Written Answers. - Noise Nuisance.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

88 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment the recourse, if any, available to residents who live close to public houses which play very loud music. [10054/95]

Under Section 108 of the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992, and the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992, (Noise) Regulations, 1994, individuals and local authorities may take action in relation to noise nuisance by way of application to the District Court to have the noise abated. An information leaflet has been published by my Department on the procedures involved and is widely available.
