153 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment when he will be in a position to give his consent to the proposed acquisition of Beamish and Crawford Limited by Scottish and national brewers as this consent is of great importance to the Cork workforce. [10142/95]

The proposed acquisition of Beamish and Crawford by Scottish and Newcastle was examined in the context of the Mergers, Takeovers and Monopolies (Control) Acts, 1978 and 1987 as amended by the Competition Act, 1991 and was approved by me on 11 May 1995.
