Vol. 454 No. 1

Written Answers. - Primary School Site.

Austin Deasy

Question:

49 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the concern amongst teachers and parents in Tramore, County Waterford, at the proposal to site a third primary school at an extremely busy and dangerous junction; and if her attention has further been drawn to the implications for the staff of the two schools in question. [10255/95]

The suitability of the site in question in the context mentioned by the Deputy is a matter for the local planning authority. I understand that the school authorities have applied for planning permission and that a decision is awaited.

In regard to the implications for staff in the other two schools in question, the position is that this school has been in operation for ten years. It is not expected that the provision of a new school building in the proposed location will have a significant additional impact on those schools.
