Vol. 454 No. 2

Written Answers. - Service of Summonses.

Desmond J. O'Malley

Question:

12 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Justice, arising from her reply to Question No. 17 of 11 May 1995 whether the District Court Rules Committee has completed the drafting of a new rule to deal specifically with the issue of the service of summonses by recorded delivery; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10421/95]

The District Court rules committee has drafted new rules to deal, inter alia, with the issue of the service of summonses by a system of recorded delivery and has submitted them for my concurrence.

In accordance with my instructions as outlined in my reply to Question No. 17 11 May 1995, the Director of Public Prosecutions has been consulted and a reply has been received from his office. I have also sought the views of the Attorney General on the proposed rules and I am waiting his reply. As soon as his advice is received there will be no undue delay in finalising the matter.
