Vol. 454 No. 2

Written Answers. - Income Tax Refund.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

41 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment in respect of his claim for refund of income tax. [10450/95]

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer was self-employed as a builder from May 1994 to July 1994. A sum in respect of C45 tax was deducted by a principal contractor from payments made to him and the taxpayer has claimed a refund of this tax. However, due to outstanding tax returns and liabilities, it is necessary that the taxpayer's overall tax affairs be brought up to date before the question of any refund can be considered by the inspector of taxes.

Following a telephone call to the taxpayer, the inspector wrote to him on 6 June 1995, setting out the details he requires in order that the taxpayer's liabilities be reviewed. He also enclosed return of income forms for completion.
