Vol. 454 No. 2

Written Answers. - Student's Summer Job Application.

Joe Walsh

Question:

71 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will have arrangements made to approve an application under the student summer jobs scheme on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [10434/95]

The students' summer jobs scheme was introduced in 1993 to provide support for students who were no longer entitled to unemployment assistance during their summer holidays. The scheme is aimed primarily at third level students and others doing post-leaving certificate courses who satify a means test broadly similar to that applied for entitlement to unemployment assistance. As the person concerned is still a second-level student, he does not qualify for this year's scheme.
