I propose to take Questions Nos. 30 and 198 together.
No car hire grant scheme is currently operated by my Department or by Bord Fáilte. Bord Fáilte's only function in relation to car hire companies is to monitor and approve rental cars under a code of conduct agreed with the Car Rental Council. However, arising from the A.D. Little review of Bord Fáilte, the Bord is currently in discussions with the Car Rental Council with a view to the council being recognised by Bord Fáilte as a self-regulatory body on the basis of standards to be agreed with the Bord.
