Question:

158 Mr. Andrews asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the number of applications which have been received from tourism interests for European Regional Development Fund funding; and the amount which will be allocated in each of the years 1995 to 1999. [10865/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 72, and 158 together.

Under the Operational Programme for Tourism, 1994-1999 which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, approximately 1,100 applications for European Regional Development Fund aid have been received to date by the implementing agencies.

The level of European Regional Development Fund aid set out in the operational programme for each of the years 1995 to 1999 is as follows:

Year

IR£m

1995

45.4

1996

53.3

1997

57.0

1998

58.3

1999

67.9

282.0

These are indicative figures only, however, and actual allocations in these years will, of course, depend on the decisions taken by the various management boards which were set-up to consider proposals for support. In so deciding, the management boards will have regard, inter alia, to the parameters set by the operational programme of the availability of matching finance from both the public and private sectors.
