Vol. 454 No. 6

Written Answers. - Sligo Project Assistance.

John Ellis

Question:

118 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the assistance, if any, he proposes to give to a project (details supplied) in County Sligo. [11322/95]

The developers of the project to which the Deputy refers have applied for funding under the cultural development incentives scheme 1994-1999. This scheme has been over-subscribed. The process of evaluation of projects has been made complex by both the quantity and quality of the applications received. Due to the number and complexity of the applications I have decided to begin the detailed evaluation process by concentrating on evaluating and assessing those applications received from the priority zones and centres of excellence as identified in the Arts Plan 1995-1997. The priority zones are the counties of Laois, Wicklow, Donegal, Longford, Westmeath, Offaly, Leitrim, Tipperary and Roscommon and the centres of excellence are the cities of Galway, Cork, Limerick and Waterford.

No decisions have been made yet with regard to the individual projects to receive allocations under this scheme.
