Question:37 Dr. Woods asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications when he intends to proceed with his plans to establish an independent regulator for the electricity industry. [8963/95]
Written Answers. - Electricity Regulatory Authority.
The Government has recently approved proposals for the creation of a new electricity market, including the establishment of an independent regulatory authority. My Department is preparing legislation which will give effect to this decision.
I should add that it is intended that these measures will comply with the Draft EU Electricity Directive currently under discussion within the Council of Ministers.
