Vol. 454 No. 7

Written Answers. - Tax Free Allowance.

Michael Creed

Question:

51 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Finance if he will examine the case of a person (details supplied) in County Cork who claims that he is paying excessive income tax. [11395/95]

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that an amended certificate of tax-free allowances issued to the taxpayer on 31 May 1995, granting a tax-free allowance of £173 per week. As the taxpayer's current income does not exceed his weekly tax-free allowances he will not have a tax liability. Any tax overdeducted since 6 April last will be refunded to him by his employer.
