Vol. 454 No. 8

Written Answers. - Navan (Meath) Regional Technical College.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

57 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Education if she will support the provision of a new Regional Technical College in Navan, County Meath, in view of the fact that there is a sufficiently large catchment area to justify the provision of this facility; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11584/95]

I will consider the issue, among others, when I receive the report of the steering committee on the future development of the Higher Education sector together with the views of the Higher Education Authority.

I established the steering committee in 1993, under the aegis of the Higher Education Authority to report to me on the future development of this sector.

I received for my information the interim report of the technical working group to the steering committee which was published in January 1995. This report represents a valuable contribution to the work of the steering committee.
