Vol. 454 No. 8

Written Answers. - Arranmore Island (Donegal) Primary Schools.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

58 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, she has to provide for the future schooling needs of primary school children on Aranmore Island, County Donegal who are currently attending schools at Aphort and Leabgarrow on the Island. [11595/95]

I am aware that the Aphort primary school building, in particular, is not in a satisfactory condition.

An amalgamation of the Aphort and Leabgarrow primary schools has been agreed locally. My Department is examining, at present, the existing and future requirements for primary education on the island and how best to accommodate an amalgamated school. I have asked that this examination be concluded and proposals made to the school managements in the matter as soon as possible.
