Vol. 455 No. 1

Written Answers. - Fishing Rights.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

146 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the fishing rights and fisheries in County Mayo vested or reserved to the Land Commission. [11779/95]

In reply to a question by the Deputy last week I indicated that information on fishing rights and fisheries vested or reserved to the Land Commission is not readily available within my Department and I advised the Deputy that if he had a particular estate or area in mind I would be glad to arrange to have the information supplied. The Deputy should be aware that the identification of fisheries and fishing rights vested or reserved to the Land Commission over all of County Mayo constitutes an enormous task which, given the competing demands on the limited resources available, will take a considerable period of time. In view of this the Deputy may, perhaps, wish to be more specific about the area of interest to him. Pending further communication from the Deputy arrangements will be made for commencement of work on the compilation of the information requested.
