Liz O'Donnell

Question:

70 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that proposals have caused considerable concern to the orthopaedic unit at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, who fear that it is part of a move to close their hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12144/95]

Limerick East): I propose to take Questions Nos. 66, 67, 69 and 70 together. I am aware that the North-Eastern Health Board has commissioned a report on trauma care in the north-east area. I understand that a draft discussion document has been prepared and circulated to interested local parties in order to seek their comments and observations. The formal document will be brought to the North-Eastern Health Board for discussion and decision, most likely in the autumn. Given that the report has not yet been finalised by the North-Eastern Health Board, it would be inappropriate for me to comment on any aspect of the report in advance of its completion and final submission to the Department.
