266 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the number of applications made for maintenance pursuant to the Family Law (Maintenance of Spouses and Children) Act, 1976, in the Circuit Court in each of the legal years from 1 August 1985 to 31 July 1986, up to and including the year 1 August 1994, to 31 July 1995. The number of applications made to the Circuit Court for maintenance pursuant to the Family Law (Maintenance of Spouses and Children) Act, 1976, in the legal years 1985-6 and 1986-7 was 242 and 247 respectively. The number of such applications made in the legal years 1987-8 to 1994-5 is not readily available but is being sought. I will do my utmost to have this information made available to the Deputy within two weeks but the Deputy should be aware that the compilation of these statistics may take a little longer in some cases.

267 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the number of applications made to the Circuit Court for barring orders in each of the legal years commencing 1 August 1985 to 31 July 1986, up to and including the legal year 1 August 1994 to 31 July 1995; and the number of barring orders granted by the Circuit Court in each of these years. The information sought by the Deputy in so far as it is available is set out as follows.

The number of applications of the legal years 1989-90 to 1994-5 and the number of such orders granted in respect of the legal year 1994-5 are not readily available but are being sought. I will do my utmost to have this information made available to the Deputy within two weeks, but the Deputy should be aware that the compilation of these statistics may take a little longer in some cases.

The number of proceedings issued pursuant to the Guardianship of Infants Act, 1964 in the Circuit Court in each of the legal years 1985-6, 1986-7, 1987-8, 1988-9 and 1989-90 was 234, 263, 284, 293 and 416 respectively. The number of such proceedings issued in the legal years 1990-1 to 1994-5 is not readily available but is being sought. I will do my utmost to have this information made available to the Deputy within two weeks, but the Deputy should be aware that the compilation of these statistics may take a little longer in some cases.
