Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Tendering Procedure.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

396 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the tendering procedure followed in the appointment of consultants to his task force on semi-State contracts; the number of tenders sought; the number of tenders received; the value of the contract; if the firm appointed submitted the lowest tender; and if not, the reason the firm was selected. [13224/95]

The tendering procedures outlined in the Government publication, Public Procurement (1994 edition), were complied with in the appointment of consultants to assist the task force which I established to review controls in the ten commercial state companies operating under the aegis of my Department. The tender advertisement was placed in the national daily newspapers. Three tenders were received and the contract was awarded, on the basis of the most economically advantageous tender, to Deloitte and Touche.
