Vol. 456 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tipperary Band Funding.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

99 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will have arrangements made to provide funding through his Department for a local band (details supplied) in County Tipperary which is to perform in Spain; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13586/95]

Funding for the promotion of Irish cultural activity abroad is provided through the Department of Foreign Affairs. Decisions on the disbursement of these funds are made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs on the basis of recommendations from the Cultural Relations Committee, which is a voluntary advisory body of persons of distinction in the artistic and cultural fields. All requests for assistance are considered carefully in the light of available resources. No application has been received from the group referred to by the Deputy.
