134 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Justice the number of judicial separations granted under the Judicial Separation Act, 1989; and the number on the waiting list for separation under this Act. [14551/95]

Court statistics are maintained on the basis of the legal year which runs from 1 August to 31 July. The number of decrees of separation granted under the Judicial Separation and Family Law Reform Act, 1989 from the commencement of the Act to 31 July 1995 is 4,396. The number of applications for judicial separation under the above Act which are currently awaiting hearing is 1,543.
