Vol. 457 No. 3

Written Answers. - Revenue Commissioners' Investigations.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

78 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance if he intends to ensure that the special investigation branch of the Revenue Commissioners rigorously pursue leading criminals who are involved in purchasing large properties without disclosing income sources. [14479/95]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that, where it can be established that people own property or other assets inconsistent with their known income or gains, they are considered for audit or investigation and are subject to inquiries by the special inquiry branch and/or the investigation branch of the Revenue Commissioners in appropriate cases.
