Vol. 457 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ballinagh (Cavan) National School.

Brendan Smith

Question:

92 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the provision of a new national school at Ballinagh, County Cavan; when the architectural planning will be completed; the proposed date for construction work to commence; if she will ensure that this project proceeds as quickly as possible in view of the urgent need to provide this new school accommodation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15294/95]

The school referred to by the Deputy is included in my Department's 1995 capital building programme.

My Department expects to finalise the accommodation brief for the school within the next week. This information will then be conveyed to the school authorities.

The school have nominated a private architect for the project and my Department will be in contact with the school authorities very shortly to confirm the details of this appointment.

As the architectural planning is only at the preliminary stage, it is not possible for me to give a realistic timescale for commencement of construction work but every effort will be made to expedite the project.
