Vol. 457 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Cork School.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

215 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education when sanction will be given to provide three additional permanent classrooms to replace prefabricated classrooms at a national school (details supplied) in County Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16137/95]

An application for the provision of extra accommodation at the school referred to by the Deputy has been received in my Department. This application is currently being examined in the light of the future needs of the school, having regard to declining demographic trends and the availability of accommodation in the other national schools in the town.

The Deputy will appreciate that it is incumbent on my Department to examine all relevant factors before agreeing to the commitment of scarce capital resources for new accommodation.

My Department will be in touch with the school management in the matter as soon as possible.
