Vol. 457 No. 7

Written Answers. - Charity Collections.

John Ellis

Question:

266 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has regarding the updating of the law in connection with charity collections within this State. [16422/95]

There is a commitment in the Government policy agreement to reform the law relating to administration and regulation of charities along the lines of the report of the Committee on Fundraising Activities for Charitable and Other Purposes which included recommendations relating to the law on charity collections. Work on the preparation of the necessary legislation is proceeding in my Department and proposals will be brought before Government as quickly as possible.
