Vol. 457 No. 7

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Question:

267 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice if she will expedite registration of lands (details supplied) in County Mayo in the Land Registry in view of the fact that the owner of the land is anxious to sell. [16423/95]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that there is no record in the Land Registry of any application for registration having been received on behalf of the persons referred to by the Deputy in respect of record No. BE 1170/23. I understand, however, that the matter is with the Land Commission and it is, therefore, more appropriate to my colleague, Deputy Yates, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry.

I should mention, at this stage, that it is the policy of the Land Registry to try, as far as possible, to expedite cases in which it can be established that special circumstances of urgency exist. Any such cases will be specially considered if details of the reasons for urgency are submitted to the Registrar of Titles following lodgement of the dealing with the Land Registry.
