Vol. 457 No. 7

Written Answers. - Administration Grant.

Noel Treacy

Question:

271 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will make an administration grant available as a matter of urgency to an organisation (details supplied) in County Galway; the amount of grant to be allocated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15985/95]

It would not be possible for my Department to provide funding to this group as it is ouside the remit of any of our grant schemes. The Government provided a relief fund of £750,000 which has been distributed by the Irish Red Cross Society on our behalf. To aid the victims of severe flooding in south Galway and the midlands, the Government has also agreed a relocation package to address the problems of people who are effectively homeless because of the severe flooding.
