272 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Social Welfare the value and duration of each contract entered into by his Department for courier, taxi, cleaning, security and haulage services in the period from January 1995, to date; the number of tenders received for each contract; the names of the successful tenderers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There were no contracts awarded in 1995 for courier services, taxi services, security or haulage. Eight contracts for cleaning offices of the Department were awarded since January 1995. These replaced existing cleaning contracts in offices where cleaning by contract cleaners has been carried out for many years. All the contracts were awarded in accordance with Government contract procedures.
