Question:304 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the Government's policy on EU banana quotas; if he is in favour of the EU introducing a 7 per cent quota for fair trade bananas where a significant proportion of the revenue from their sale goes to their producers from the ACP countries and from Latin America, as suggested by the European Banana Action Network; and if he will raise this matter with the EU Council of Farm Ministers.
