Vol. 457 No. 7

Written Answers. - INTERREG Funding.

Pat the Cope Gallagher

Question:

81 Mr. Gallagher (Donegal South-West) asked the Minister for Finance the total extra funding being made available to the EU INTERREG initiative out of the recent EU allocation of 41 million ECU, £32.8 million, which was announced by the European Commission on 4 October 1995. [15921/95]

The Commission is now in the process of notifying the European Parliament and the member states of these allocations and it is likely that the indicative amount of 3 million mecu, about £2.43 million, for INTERREG II for Ireland will be confirmed. Matching funding for INTERREG projects is provided by the Exchequer and by private sources. The necessary Exchequer funding to ensure the full utilisation of this additional EU funding will be forthcoming over the life of the programme.
