Vol. 457 No. 8

Written Answers. - Sex Related Offences.

Dan Wallace

Question:

141 Mr. D. Wallace asked the Minister for Justice the number of inmates in the prison service who have been convicted of sex-related offences; and the total amount of money which has been spent on psychological counselling for such prisoners over the last 12 months. [16381/95]

A total of 218 prisoners are currently serving sentences for sex related offences.

Precise figures cannot be furnished for the total amount of money spent on psychological counselling for such prisoners over the last 12 months as all prisoners in the system are entitled to — many avail of — psychological counselling from the Department's prison psychology service.
