Vol. 458 No. 1

Written Answers. - Personal Injuries Claims.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

57 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Justice, in view of the spiralling crime levels the plans, if any, she has for a review of the law in relation to householders who find themselves having to confront an intruder and who find themselves confronted with a personal injury claim incurred during a robbery; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16059/95]

Any personal injury claim by an intruder arising out of the hypothetical case put forward by the Deputy would, of course, be a civil matter and, as such, any reform of the law would be for my colleague, Deputy Mervyn Taylor, Minister for Equality and Law Reform.
