Vol. 458 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drumcondra (Dublin) School.

Mary Flaherty

Question:

67 Miss Flaherty asked the Minister for Education if she will facilitate the appointment of two classroom assistants to St. Patrick's national school in Drumcondra, Dublin 9, to assist with the needs of wheelchair users attending the school. [16608/95]

I am not in a position at present to allocate classroom assistants to the school in question.

In the current year, I allocated 100 additional child care assistant posts. These posts were allocated on the basis of priority of need and have been deployed in special schools and schools with special classes. I will continue to review needs in this area and the position of St. Patrick's national school in Drumcondra will be considered in this context.
