Vol. 458 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

66 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Finance if funding for education will be provided under the national lottery surplus in the 1996 budget; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16904/95]

In accordance with the National Lottery Act, 1986 the national lottery allocations are decided by the Government. The 1996 allocations are currently being considered as part of the annual Estimates process and I can confirm that, as in previous years, these contain proposals for substantial allocations of funding from the national lottery surplus to the Department of Education.
