Vol. 458 No. 2

Written Answers. - Babies' Breathing Monitors.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

85 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health whether it is the function of the local community welfare office or the hospital to provide breathing monitors for babies. [16713/95]

Limerick East): Policy in relation to the provision of breathing monitors for babies is a matter for each health board. Where the use of a breathing monitor is recommended by a consultant, the monitor is made available through either the hospital or, as is the practice in most areas, the local community care office. The monitor is made available free of charge to babies who are dependants of GMS card holders.
