Vol. 458 No. 2

Written Answers. - Resource Teacher Appointment.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

114 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Education when an application for a resource teacher at a school (details supplied) in County Galway will be sanctioned. [16720/95]

In the current year I allocated an additional ten resource teacher posts to selected primary schools. This brings the total number of resource teachers allocated to the primary school sector to 36. These posts were allocated on the basis of priority of need following the collection of data by my Department's primary inspectorate. Unfortunately, the school in question was not included among those selected on this occasion. However, I can assure the Deputy that the needs of this school will be given every consideration when it is next possible to allocate additional resource teacher posts.
