Vol. 458 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tourism Projects.

Ivor Callely

Question:

91 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the grant-aid likely to be made available for tourism projects in 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16929/95]

The operational programme for tourism, 1994-99 will remain the principal source of grant-aid for tourism projects in 1996 when £67.53 million in EU grant aid has been allocated to assist tourism development. The EU aid will be allocated as between the public and private sectors which will provide matching finance as follows: £24.07 million private, £18.16 million public.

Other EU funded programmes, such as INTERREG, Leader, rural development and the special programme for peace and reconciliation, also offer grant-aid towards investment in tourism and details of relevant allocations are available from the individual Minister's responsible for implementation.

Details of the allocations under the various tourism subheads of my own Department's vote next year will be set out in the Estimates for Public Services for 1996.
