Vol. 458 No. 5

Written Answers. - Broadcasting Control Legislation.

Pat Upton

Question:

93 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the proposals, if any, he has to introduce legislation controlling broadcasting in Ireland. [17176/95]

Broadcasting is governed by the following legislation: the Broadcasting Authority Acts, 1960 to 1993, the Radio and Television Act, 1988, and the Broadcasting Act, 1990. The responses received on the Green Paper on broadcasting are being examined at present and will inform my deliberations as I develop definite proposals for fresh legislation. I hope to be in a position to submit definite proposals for Government consideration during the course of 1996.
